This was a great expereance. For me is always good to share ideas with other classmates.Some friends and I started walking by downtown Chicago and we started to find anything that we thought that was related to pop-culture. Then we saw a couple and we interviewed them. We asked them what they think pop-culture is. It was a great experiance and I also enjoyed it. But watch our glog and listen to the interview.

Technology

A no so old little device that every day improve more and more. Keep us communicate, and every day is more used by everyone. THE CELLPHONE is something that I use always. I use it to wake up and even to go sleep. I use it to communicate and also to know the date and the time. A new little device that when I don’t have it, I feel something missing in me.

Response to The Proposal movie review

The proposal is a movie that not just has good actors, but also is interesting and funny. Its main actors are Sandra Bullock and Ryan Raynolds. This movie is interesting because it is not like the other romantic comedies that are always predictable. This movie keeps entertaining you and you keep wondering what would happen later. The review that I read said exactly the same. It says that it is not a predictable movie and also that entertained you.It also say that the actors are great and I agree with that.

A movie Review of an Academy Award movie

Everything has to have balance. We all know that when we want to achieve a goal, we should work for it and have our minds totally clarified and focused. But what would you think about a person that has completely unclarified his mind? A person that thinks that all around him is ok, but for the other people, his actions are not the common behaviors that a person should have. This is a story that tells how a man, John Nash who is extremely intelligent creates his own world of a fantasy where he is submitted to test his intelligence. Also tells about how the humanity doesn’t accept all the things that are not in the norm and take apart those people or things.

I really don’t have a specific favorite song, artist or type of music, but one musician that I think that can be very influential for people right now is the Spanish singe Juanes. He is a Pop and Spanish Rock singer. He is making some concerts for the world peace, and this year he made it in La Habana, Cuba. He is trying to make the next concert in the border between U.S. and Mexico. I think that with the thinks that he is doing he can influence in the people’s mind and make them to think on their behaviors.

Reading: I want to be Miss America

This reading talks about the people that move to another country, and they prefer to lose their customs just to fit in the population. It was like an advice to me because I am new in this country, and I have not felt yet that I just want to be acceptable by people, but it gave me like a hint to be in future aware to not fall in the famous “What the people think about me?”. I believe that is so important to learn about differebt cultures because yuo can really communicate with people and share different nvironments. Besides, I think that is really very important to keep your own identity. You should always be and show what you really are. I believe that people really appreciate when they can see someone and believe that how they are seeing that person, is what they really is.

Cultural Identity

I will explain you my culture poster. The reason why I decide to make my project about my country is because my culture is from there. The things that I most like to do, I learned them in there.
Now I’ll explain you step by step my poster.
• Night: There I like to go to nightclubs with my friends.
• “Parrandas”: This is something very cultural in me and in my country. In some Christmas nights we usually go to some friends’ houses at 12 in the midnight or very early in the morning. We wake up them, and make a party in their houses. We enter singing very happy Christmas songs with noisy musical instruments and the owner of the house should gave us drinks.
• Sushi: We all know that this is not a cultural food from my country, but I like to eat sushi.
• Super Bowl: Next to the sushi there is a picture that I’m watching the Super Bowl with some friends.
• Goals: I always focus my mind on my goals and I like to follow me dreams.
• El Yunque: It is a rain forest in Puerto Rico. It is very beautiful. I like to go there and get on the rivers.
• Beach: well, my country is all surrounded of water, so I do that always.
• Sports: I play Volleyball, Soccer and Basketball. Also when I was there, all the Sundays I used to run on the beach. And in all the races, like the “World best 10k”, I was always there.
• Dance: That’s the most thing that I like to do. I dance Ballet, Strip Jazz, Salsa, Bachata and Merengue.
• My Family: I have a sister that is 12. Even when my parents are divorced we are very close. From my father’s family I don’t have any cousins, just one uncle, two aunts and my grandmother, but from my mother, I have 15 cousins, 2 uncles and 2 aunts and my grandmother. Even when we are 15 cousins we are very close, I was the only one that took the decision to come to United States.

Pop Culture

Hello my visitors. I am Priscilla and I want you to learn a little bit more about my experience learning about pop-culture. Pop culture has influenced me, and I think that has influenced most of us in this times. There are objects, people, places and events that make us to be interested in them. I have been in the U.S. for almost 6 months, and even though my country has some different behaviors from the U.S., I haven’t changed anything because my country is very similar regarding what is called pop culture. Taking this class I have realized that pop culture is everywhere and I have learned how to detect when a person is quite influenced by it.
